PROMPT: Self score for each iNACOL Standard:
- 2 points for Yes, I get this and do (or will do this);
- 1 point for I kind of get this and might do it (or I do this infrequently); and
- 0 for I don’t get this, I don’t plan on doing this (or I don’t do this now).
iNACOL Standards for EDUU 625:
Standard E: The online teacher models, guides, and encourages legal, ethical, and safe behavior related to technology use.
1 point: While I understand the benefit of this iNACOL standard it was presented in EDUU 625 specifically for middle school, high school, and post-secondary. We do teach safe behavior with technology in elementary school, but plagiarism is seldomly touched on in the younger grades and when it is we go back and reflect on the lesson itself.
Standard F: The online teacher is cognizant of the diversity of student academic needs and incorporates accommodations into the online environment.
2 point: This is a key focus in all lesson planning, training planning, and professional development planning. If I am not meeting the needs of my learners, than I am not truly focused on teaching them.
Standard G: The online teacher demonstrates competencies in creating and implementing assessments in online learning environments in ways that ensure validity and reliability of the instruments and procedures.
2 point: My focus in every meeting, lesson design, and professional development always starts with the standards, whether it is the state standards for students or teachers.
Standard H: The online teacher develops and delivers assessments, projects, and assignments that meet standards-based learning goals and assesses learning progress by measuring student achievement of the learning goals.
2 point: Developing and delivering assessments, projects, and assignments is a priority when it comes to instructional coaching. This is not a new focus or area of focus.
Standard I: The online teacher demonstrates competency in using data from assessments and other data sources to modify content and to guide student learning.
1 point: I fully understand the benefits of data collection and how data supports growth. I gave myself a one because I do not have students and cannot assess teachers without it being evaluative.
